Signs of Distress.

Post  Anita Blake on Tue Apr 08, 2008 6:08 am

It took one swift kick and a mouth full of curses to make the jeep start up again.

The battery had died while she had been out on a crime scene, she had since stripped of her blue jumpsuit and untied her hair only to discover her dead car sitting there. The green glow of the clock in her dashboard only added on to the stress in the air. It was 2:24 am and she had, had no sleep in two days. It was one crime scene after another and all the victims were human. However the only reason they called her out was for the fact that something immortal had slaughtered these people, ripping out their throats causing them to be useless if she tried to raise them from the dead once more.

Her cell phone went off just as she slid in to the driver's seat of her car; she answered only to be met with another piece of information on the case she wasn't sure she wanted to hear at all. The latest victim had also been a member of the H.A.V. Funny thing, the H.A.V stood for Humans Against Vampires however that also meant members of this social group hated anything immortal or anyone that raised immortals. Like herself. Anita slid the phone shut before letting her head fall forward against the steering wheel where she assumed her role of slamming her forehead over and over against until she gripped the wheel out of frustration and cranked the almost dying car over. It had been a long two nights and now all she wanted to do was crash in to her soft sheets-- alone.

Things were just too hectic lately. There would be less and less sleep for her for the weeks to come, that is until they closed the case. There was something immortal going around killing the social groups and unfortunately it was her job to find whoever was doing that.

Another restless night for the Vampire hunter. Stationed on top of a rather large building, he kept close watch over the city for any odd occurences that might take place. It had almost been a year since he lost track of the king of Vampires, Alucard. And since then he had been following any sort of case involving vampires, hoping that it would lead to Alucard's location. But it seemed as if this current lead was a false allarm. Though the victims of this city were killed by wounds on their necks, they did not turn into Vampires or even Ghouls. Which meant something other than a vampire must have been doing this. The night turned out to be a complete waste. He hopped down onto the street below and decided to take just one more tour of the block. A little more searching wouldn't hurt, right?
